Helium Network Successfully Migrates to Solana
We are pleased to announce the successful migration of the Helium Network to the Solana blockchain. This move, which was initiated in December 2020, was completed in a smooth and timely manner. The move is expected to optimize the overall speed, scalability and cost-effectiveness of the Helium blockchain.
Solana is a high-performance blockchain that provides fast transaction times and low transaction fees, enabling users to use Helium's services with greater speed and efficiency. The migration is also expected to provide improved security for users and their data.
The Helium Network is a platform that allows users to create decentralized applications (dApps), store data securely on the blockchain, and access services like payments and crypto wallets. The platform provides a variety of tools for developers to create innovative dApps with minimal effort.
The switch from an Ethereum-based network over to Solana’s allows users to benefit from significantly faster transaction speeds – up to 4000 transactions per second compared to Ethereum’s 15 transactions per second. Additionally, Solana’s fees are much lower than those of Ethereum – while Ethereum charges around $100 per transaction, Solana only charges $0.000008! These advantages make it easier for developers and end-users alike.
The team at Helium has noted that “the shift from Ethereum will allow us to focus on long-term scalability solutions, as well as enhance our ability to deliver great experiences for users interacting with dApps built on the Helium Network."
The successful migration marks an important milestone in the development of the Helium Network. We are excited to see what its future holds!
